'Buy travel money now' to save money on euros - 03rd Sep 2008
Brits heading going on cheap holidays in Tenerife and other eurozone destinations may be best off buying their euros now, it has been suggested.
Stephen Heath, chief executive of Fair FX.com, pointed out that the pound is at a record low against the euro and that further falls are possible.
"Brits looking forward to a late summer holiday in the sun are faced with a costly dilemma when it comes to getting their holiday money," he commented.
Mr Heath added that a pre-paid travel card offers the possibility of saving money by allowing customers to buy now and keep the money for whenever their holidays is booked.
Pre-paid travel cards allow travellers to load a certain amount of currency onto the card, which can help with budgeting.
More consumers are selecting to put their holiday money onto a pre-paid card over more traditional products such as travellers cheques or using foreign currency.
Cardholders can then withdraw money and make transactions abroad without having to worry about added fees and charges.
