Turkish tourism to get investment boost - 03rd Sep 2008
Cheap holidays in Turkey could get even better as the tourism ministry announces plans to invest more money in the country as a travel destination.
This is according to the Turkish Daily News, which states that £180 million is to go into strengthening the tourism sector and advertising it to new markets.
"New projects are being developed to promote Turkey in collaboration with the sector," ministry official Levent Demirel told the newspaper.
It is hoped this will increase tourist numbers to 60 million by 2012. Some 25 million people are expected to have visited the country by the end of 2008.
Last month, M&S Money reported that there had been an increase in sales of lira as more people opted for cheap holidays in Turkey.
Meanwhile, Dan Eldridge, writing for the Telegraph, recently said that the resort of Oludeniz has one of the best beaches the country has to offer and caters for all budgets regarding accommodation.
