Anyone interested in cheap holidays in Crete may wish to consider the resort of Hania, it has been suggested. Hania, also known as Chania of Khania, is a popular destination on the Greek island and many hotels are now opening all year round in order to meet demand from tourists, the Times reports. A lively university town, Hania has some good nightspots, including a new nightclub which recently opened on the quayside and a number of taverns. "Hania takes on a life of its own in winter," Jenny Payavla, owner of the Well of The Turk restaurant, told the newspaper. According to Interkriti.org, nightlife in Hania should be experienced the local way, which usually starts with dinner, continues with a visit to bars and discos and ends with coffee and sweets in the early morning. Hania is the second biggest town in Crete and has a population of around 60,000 people.
