Benefits of package holidays lauded by Abta - 08th Oct 2008
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has launched a campaign aimed at promoting the packaged holiday to Brits who may be worried amid the current economic climate.
Entitled Book with Confidence, it will appear in national newspapers as of October 13th and will remind people that their holidays will be safer if they book with Abta member companies, Brand Republic reports.
Anyone who purchases a holiday that is Atol-protected will be covered financially if, for example, the airline they are due to travel with goes bust.
Mark Tanzer, Abta chief executive, said the "strength of the Abta brand" should help to suppress consumers' fears.
In related news, a recent Mintel study carried out on behalf of TUI Travel predicted that the popularity of all-inclusive deals, including cheap holidays in Turkey, will increase as consumers look for added value outside the eurozone.
It also reported that a total of 53 per cent of those who went on holiday in the 12 months to June 2008 did so via a package tour.
