An increasing number of people are choosing cheap holidays in Cyprus, if new statistics are anything to go by. According to the Civil Aviation Department, there was a significant increase in air traffic over two of the country's biggest airports during the summer. In June, air traffic at Larnaca Airport increased by 7.1 per cent when compared with the same month last year, while passenger numbers increased by 12.2 per cent. Meanwhile, at Paphos Airport, the number of passengers went up by five per cent, perhaps due to Brits seeking some sunshine on their summer holidays there. In July, air traffic went up by 2.1 per cent at Larnaca and 4.5 per cent at Paphos, while passenger numbers also increased at both airports in the same month. Cyprus continues to be a popular destination for British holidaymakers. In August, David Collins, writing for Best Syndication, said that the Mediterranean island has something for everyone, including the clubbers' mecca, Ayia Napa.
