Holiday price 'is more important than carbon impact' - 09th Oct 2008
A spokesperson at a conference on the future of tourism has said that consumers will continue to see the price of holidays as more important than how environmentally-friendly they are.
In news that may be of interest to people booking cheap holidays in Kos and other destinations, Co-operative managing director Mike Greenacre said that this is even more relevant amid the credit crunch.
"The number one priority is value for money. Customers do not walk through the door and say do you do carbon offsetting and if not I won't book a holiday," he pointed out, according to Travel Weekly.
Meanwhile, a recent poll carried out by cashback network froggybank.co.uk, sales of holidays costing £500 and above have dropped by 12 per cent this year when compared with 2007 as people try to beat the credit crunch.
However, sales of short breaks and cheap holidays were found to have increased by 4.5 per cent, the company found.
